# Taxonomy Note
Rex Brasher used the 1886 (first edition) AOU Check-list throughout his painting
period (1911–1924), meaning his nomenclature was already significantly outdated
during his lifetime. The site provides both Brasher's original names and current
accepted names (eBird Taxonomy 2025) for all 1,097 bird species.
