Bandtail Pigeon

BANDTAIL PIGEONS range during summer over a wide section of the western states but concentrate during winter in settled regions wherever their food of fruit and acorns is available, and were formerly killed or netted in numbers. As they raise an average of but one young a season, this slaughter soon decreased them to the point of extinction. The Federal migratory law gave them a respite but complete removal from the Game Bird List is all which will save these fine birds from the Passenger Pigeons' fate — the road to Valhalla!
