These are the least wary of the genus. Bent says that they fit inconspicuously into the dark and gloomy rocks of the Aleutian Islands.
Courting is accompanied with a grotesque series of awkward bowings, with necks arched so weirdly as to change the entire appearance of the performers.
They walk with bobbing heads and fly sluggishly, a few rapid wing beats being followed by sailing flight. They are social, often whistling to one another altho separated by quite a distance.
BREEDING similar to other members of the genus.
