Blackthroat Sparrow

BLACKTHROATS are the Song Sparrows of desert country. The throat-patch is conspicuous when the bird sings as the head is thrown well back. Mrs. Bailey savs they have a most winsome manner quite at variance with the cheerless surroundings. Its tra-ree-rah, ree-rah-ree (with many variations) can be heard thruout our southwestern arid regions where it is the commonest bird.

Range

Oklahoma, western Kansas and eastern Colorado south to Texas.
