Desert Sparrow Hawk

In southern parts of their range these HAWKS become so tame as to be almost "birds of the dooryard." They have been observed frequently in front of forest fires catching insects and small rodents driven into the open by smoke and heat. They often disappeared in the smoke and endured heat far greater than men could face. Breeding similar to the Sparrow Hawk.
