In back pastures and uncultivated rocky fields, the FIELD SPARROWS "jingle their small change—June silver." They are of a retiring disposition, often eluding observation by sliping thru grass with mouse furtiveness. The Summer menu is almost half insects and they are a valuable economic asset.
