Glaucous Gull

Let him take who can, is northland law. These powerful and tyrannical birds demand submission from feathered associates except Skuas and Blackback Gulls.

Victims seem to admit their right and only protest verbally when their young are seized and given as food to juvenile GLAUCOUS GULLS.

In Winter on Georges Bank I have noted a few among the smaller Gulls. When descending toward food, one occasionally warned others by hoarse, throaty kaws.

Kittiwakes evaded their rushes easily, sometimes snatching a gurry morsel a few feet in front of the robber's bill, and swinging away with choking chucklings.

Range
