Least Auklet

In size and disposition these are the babies of the family. They play marine tag, chasing each other over the waves with merry chuckles, chattering good naturedly when the chasee is forced into a dive.

They congregate in immense numbers on their favorite islands, and the subterranean conversation beneath the walker's feet is like the murmur of the nearby surf. Those off duty leave in regiments each morning, returning for relief duty at evening.
