Threetoe Woodpecker

Like the Arctic Threetoes, these Woodpeckers are nonmigratory and unsociable. Forms of northern life are not noted for loquacity and THREETOES are no exception. They are silent birds and this may account, in part, for the rarity of record by bird students. They are seldom seen outside coniferous forests.

Range

Northern North America from central Ungava to northern Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Maine and New Hampshire.
