Blackcap Vireo

Vireo atricapillus

There can be no doubt about identification for this is the only member of the family with black head and which has unmarked eggs. Its song is said to resemble the emphatic notes of the White-eye Vireo.

From southwestern Kansas southward thru Oklahoma and west central Texas.

A tree up to 50 feet high, distributed from Virginia along the coast to southern Florida and along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico to Texas.
