Coues Flycatcher

Myiochanes pertinax pallidiventris

This middle American species sometimes crosses our border into pine forests of southern Arizona. Its habits, as far as known, are similar to the Oliveside Flycatcher and the last note of its call is more prolonged.

BREEDING

NEST: saddled on horizontal branch, usually within 30 feet of the ground, similar to the Oliveside Flycatcher's in construction.

EGGS: creamy white, wreathed with lilac and brown spots.

RANGE

Mountains of southern Arizona.

Bur Oak

Quercus macrocarpa

A tree up to 150 feet high, distributed from Nova Scotia to Texas. West to Manitoba and Kansas.
