





These beautifully colored birds prefer the plains and foothills. Their song is said to be less strong and varied than the Indigo Bunting's.
NEST: similar to Indigo Bunting; located near water in low bushes.
EGGS: 3 to 4; plain, pale bluish or greenish white.
Western North America from southern parts of British provinces to western North Dakota, south to southern California and southwestern Texas.
A tree occasionally 40 feet high, distributed only on Elliott Key, Florida.
