Mexican Black Hawk

Urubitinga anthracina

This Hawk is a rare visitor over our border from its Central and South American home. It is said to feed largely on snakes and small animals.

BREEDING

NEST: of twigs on bulky platform of sticks; located in trees.

EGGS: 1 to 3; greenish-white spotted with pale umber and chocolate brown.

RANGE

Southern Arizona, New Mexico and lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
