Painted Redstart

Setophaga picta

According to the few recorded observations of these birds, they have the same desire to "show off" by spreading wings and tail as our eastern Redstart. Their restricted habitat gives few observers a chance to watch the beautiful males, but it is probable the little dandies exhibit their splendor to the unresponsive mountain retreats as readily as they would to human sight.
