Redbill Pigeon

Columba flavirostris

FLAVIROSTRIS (meaning yellowbill) was given to this bird because dried specimens show dull yellow bills! (Closet naturalists sometimes nod.) Altho common in Rio Grande Valley, little has been written of its habits.

BREEDING

NEST: of twigs, bark strips, grass and roots; well formed and stoutly constructed — for a pigeon!

EGG: One. Pure white.

RANGE

Lower Rio Grande Valley.
