Redeye Vireo

Vireosylva olivacea

The most abundant and best known of the family. In July noons when all other birds are silent the "preacher" speaks his persistent piece from his pulpit among motionless leaves. This song, with distinct pauses between phrases, is translated easily into words of which the most indicative perhaps are these: — "Here I am! Here I am! Don't-you-see-me? Don't-you-see-me? Here I am!"
