Sulphurbelly Flycatcher

Myiodynastes luteiventris

This FLYCATCHER prefers the vicinity of streams at altitudes between 5000 and 8000 feet. Altho strongly colored, its preference for the tops of tall trees renders its motionless form extremely difficult to see.

BREEDING

NEST: in tree cavity, lined with leaves.

EGGS: 3; cream-buff heavily splashed with browns and lilac.

RANGE

Mountains of southwestern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico.

Ironwood

Ostrya knowltoni

A tree from 20 to 30 feet high. Distributed only on the southern slope of Colorado River canyon in Arizona, at 6000 to 7000 feet elevations above the sea near Talfrey.
