A team of dedicated board members, volunteers, and student interns has published every page in Volume 9. This volume includes 360 images of paintings and lyrical descriptions of birds, now available online for everyone to enjoy anywhere in the world. This is a monumental task. Each volume requires approximately 400 hours to photograph, edit, transcribe, catalog, and publish online. We need your support to complete this work.
If you're tech-savvy, have a good eye, are meticulous with details, and love structured data, please consider volunteering by emailing us at hello@rexbrasher.org.
We encourage all bird lovers and supporters to consider a monetary donation to support our mission to make Rex's work available for everyone. You can provide a one-time or recurring donation online.
Human Communism is retrogression and will always fail if the race is destined for advance. The Russian experiment may attain a measure of success because they are a backward people Sheep must be led — whether over a cliff or to better pastures only the future will tell.
TRICOLOR BLACKBIRDS have practiced Socialism probably ever since the species diversified from the parent stock. They are always together in small or large flocks.
Early arrivals among home swamps spend some days in recuperation and discussion. On a certain day they all commence building. Another discussion: then an egg is laid in each nest until every cradle contains a full set. Nearly all nests in one community contain the same number of eggs on a certain day. There may be a variant number here and there but not often. The old birds fly in unison to the feeding grounds; even after young appear, forays to higher land for food are in flocks. Some invisible central authority seems to issue orders and the Tricolors obey. A remarkable exhibition of fiat control from a source about which we know nothing.
NEST: similar to Redwing.
EGGS: 4 or 5; pale blue marked with circle of brown spots at large end and erratic black lines.
