Western Flycatcher

Empidonax difficilis difficilis

In parts of California these birds are common and their habits and breeding are quite similar to the Wood Pewee altho their plaintive calls are accompanied with a Phoebe tail-flirt. They are entirely insectiverous and an important factor in suppressing insect enemies.
