





This western representative of the Veery frequents the lower valleys and foothills, preferring stream banks and willow, wild rose and box elder thickets to timbered areas. They voice the veer-e call and same tremulous beautiful song as the eastern birds.
Western North America. Breeds in lower Canada and Transition zones from about latitude 53 south to central Oregon, Nevada, Utah, northern New Mexico and central Iowa, eastward in migration to Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Mississippi. Winters in South America.
A 50-foot tree distributed widely thru California coast regions from Sonoma county to San Diego mountains, ascending to 3000 feet in central part of the State.
