Yellowcrown Night Heron

Nyctanassa violacea

This beautiful bird is far less common than the Blackcrown and much more restricted in range. They nest frequently in company with other Herons and are less nocturnal than the Blackcrown.

BREEDING

NEST — similar to Blackcrown Night Heron; located in mangroves or small trees; usually within twenty-five feet of ground.

EGGS — 3 to 4; pale green.
