Emma Hoffman, a current resident of the Rex Brasher home, is an artist and recent graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied design and architecture. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Emma was immersed in a creatively rich environment from an early age, nurtured by her artistic family and attendance of arts-focused schools. Her upbringing fostered a deep appreciation for creativity and design, which she continues to explore and refine in her work.
Relocating from the bustling city to the serene surroundings of Rex Brasher's home has profoundly impacted Emma's artistic journey. Immersed in nature and attuned to the wildlife around her, she finds new inspiration and a deeper sense of self. This transition has awakened fresh perspectives, allowing her to explore how she fits into the world and translating these insights into her evocative and thoughtful creations. Emma’s art is an exploration of her place in the world, a harmonious blend of contemplation and creation.
Not only has Emma produced a number of drawings, maps, and books while living in Chickadee Valley, but she also has contributed in key ways to honing our mission statement. Emma is the first artist to create a book with the Rex Brasher Association, setting a precedent and fulfilling a longstanding goal of our organization. Emma’s work explores personal connections—her personal ecology—to the world around her with grace and humility. We are incredibly grateful for Emma’s contributions to our mission and the unique and genuine perspective she brings to the world at large.
